3D Visualization of Deep-Seabed Using a Stereo Vision System Applied into Underwater Vehicles

چکیده

JAMSTEC now has been developing several underwater platforms includes underwater vehicles as the useful tool to deal with various issues relating to the deep ocean. It is required that they are equipped with observation sensors to visualize deep-seabed including topography and benthic organism. One of methods to realize that is a stereo vision system. It can provide not only the 3D shape and color of shooting objects but also the geometric information if both accuracy of the camera model and the stereo matching are guaranteed. So we propose a method for 3D visualization of deep-seabed using the stereo vision system into underwater vehicle. As the result of sea trials applying it, detailed seabed conditions were visualized and the geometric information of shooing objects was measured.
